Walter J. Haubert II, 79 of Houston, Texas passed away on Monday, October 7, at his home.

He was born on November 14, 1944, in Fremont, Ohio, and graduated from Lakota High School in 1962. Walter went on to obtain an associates degree from Terra Community College, and retired from the Whirlpool Corporation.

In addition to his successful career, Walter was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Saint James Church in Kansas, OH and Saint Edith Stein Church in Katy, Texas. He enjoyed flying his model airplanes, hunting, fishing, and woodworking in his spare time.

On June 12, 1965, Walter married Joyce Marie Hawk at St. Mary Catholic Church in Millersville and shared very nearly 48 years together until her passing in 2013. 

Walter will be dearly missed by his surviving relatives; children, Nancy (Gordon) Niall of Cypress, TX, Mary (Kurt) Brewer of Risingsun, OH, Dan (Mitzi) Haubert of Fremont, OH, and Laura (Carlisle) Campbell of Eagle Lake, TX; 17 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; siblings, Betty Gabel and Roger (Alice) Haubert; and sisters-in-law, Lynn Haubert and Phyllis Broadwater; as well as many nieces and nephews. 

Preceding him in death are his wife, Joyce; parents, Walter and Rosella; son, Kevin Haubert; granddaughter, Lesa Gosche; brother, Royal Haubert; brothers-in-law, Bill Gabel, Earl Broadwater, Bob Bergstedt, and Harry Hawk Jr.; and sisters-in-law, Yvonne Hawk and Marjorie Bergstedt.

Visitation for Walter will be held at the Herman-Veh Funeral Home & Crematory, Gibsonburg on Friday, October 11 from 2:00-4:00pm and 6:00-8:00pm. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, October 12 beginning at 10:00am at St. Mary Catholic Church, Millersville. Burial will follow at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery. 

Donations in Walter's name may be made to The American Cancer Society or to the American SIDS Institute.
