Valeria “Val” Patterson, 93, of Fremont, passed away on January 31, 2021 at Bethesda Care Center in Fremont, OH. She was born on July 22, 1927 in Fremont to Alva C. and Florence (Damon) Jones. Val was a 1945 graduate of Fremont Ross High School. She was co-owner with her husband and vice president for Chuck’s Hauling Company. On June 9, 1954 she married Charles Patterson in Indiana, and they were married 36 years until his passing on October 25, 1990. When Val wasn’t busy co-owning her business, she could be found volunteering her time at the gift shop at Elmwood Communities in Green Springs and with Golden Threads, both of which she served for nearly 20 years. She was a leader for the Boy Scouts and Campfire, was a devout volunteer for the American Red Cross, donating roughly 12 gallons throughout her life, and was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Fremont. In her free time, Val enjoyed sewing and solving crossword puzzles.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters; Jocelyn (William) Shreffler of Risingsun, OH, Charlene Holskey of Fremont, OH, 5 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and brother, Donn (Joyce) Jones. In addition to her parents and husband Charles, she is preceded in death by her son, Jeffrey Lee Beard on October 5, 1968, siblings, Ted C., Doug, Milton and Bob Jones.
There will be no services held at this time for Val. She will be laid to rest with her husband and son at Oakwood Cemetery.
