Thomas R. Ickes

Thomas Ray Ickes Sr., 71, of Helena passed away on January 9, 2024, at his home. 
He was born on September 20, 1952 to the late David F. and Dorothy (Cherry) Ickes in Fremont. 

In 1972, he married Ruth Sprauer in Lindsey, and have shared 52 loving years together.

Thomas enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandson. His family will remember his love of baking, especially his famous donkey cake. Thomas also loved working on cars, making household repairs, and he would help anyone who needed it.  

Thomas is survived by his wife, Ruth; children, Debra (Chilt) Miller of Fostoria and Thomas R. Ickes Jr. of Luckey; grandchildren, Forest Ickes, Tabitha (Hunter) Mihailoff, Thomas R. Ickes III (Maddie), and Eliana Ickes; great-grandson, Thomas R. Ickes IV; siblings, Penny Yingling, Bill (Brenda) Ickes of Clyde, and Judy (Mike) Black of Gibsonburg; and fur-babies, Muffin and Sugar.
 
Thomas is preceded in death by his daughter, Helen Marie Ickes; and siblings, David Ickes Jr, Sally Elizabeth Jahna, Linda Long, John Ickes, and Marsha Fritz.
 
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 16 from 10:00am-12:00pm at the Herman-Veh Funeral Home & Crematory, Gibsonburg, with funeral services beginning at 12:00pm.
 
Burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in Perrysburg.
 
Memorial donations can be made in Thomas's name to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
