Thomas Eugene Hasselbach, 74, formerly of Fremont, passed away July 21, 2023 at Countryside Manor in Fremont. He was born in Fremont, Ohio, on October 16, 1948, to Theodore and Marthalene (Halfhill) Hasselbach. Tom graduated from Fremont Ross High School in 1966 and from MSU with an Associates Degree in 1971. On August 10, 1973, He married Christine Murray, and they enjoyed 49 years of marriage before his passing. Together they raised four sons, whom he was very proud of and loved so much.
Tom was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Fremont for 40 years. He knew every nook and cranny in the church and loved showing people around. Throughout the years he spent many hours working to help maintain it. Tom loved his church family and enjoyed the company of the parishioners and the Rev. Matt Wahlgren family. He was a bus driver for the Sandusky County Board of DD, which was a career he took great pride in and thoroughly enjoyed for several years before his retirement. Tom was well known among his family for his love of movies, showcased in his vast movie collection, and for being a bit of a MacGyver because he always carried so many tools with him. He had a love of Jerry Garcia neck ties and enjoyed finding new ones to add to his collection. He proudly wore one of his neck ties every Sunday. Tom enjoyed fishing in his free time and cherished the time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Chris “Tina” Hasselbach; children, Justin (Laura), Jeffrey (Kaitlyn), Jacob (Eunice), Joel Hasselbach (Jessi Clouse); grandchildren, J.T., Zane, Jio, Makennah, Yena Hasselbach.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother.
Visitation will be held Saturday, August 12, 2023, from 9:00 AM until the beginning of his memorial service at 11:00 AM, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 206 N. Park Avenue, Fremont, Ohio, 43420. Rev. Matt Wahlgren will officiate.
