Shirley Koval Bilger, 94, of Fremont, passed away on July 24, 2021, at Valley View Health Campus. She was born May 9, 1927, in Painesville, Ohio to Almon and Ida (Cooper) Burkhart. Shirley was a 1945 graduate of Fairport High School and later owned Koval's Shoes, which she retired from in 1982. In 1989 she married Jack Bilger in Fremont and they enjoyed 24 years of marriage until his passing on June 13, 2013. Shirley was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Fremont.
Left to cherish her memory are her children; Cherie (Steve) Fixman of Glen Allen, VA, Terry Koval of Atlanta, GA, Joseph R. (Dolly) Koval of Helena, OH, 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Jack Bilger, she is preceded in death by her parents.
There will be no services at this time per Shirley's request. She will be laid to rest at St. Paul’s Episcopal Columbarium.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 206 N. Park Avenue, Fremont, Ohio, 43420.
