Shirley (Tucker) Jackson, 75, of Perrysburg formerly of Fremont, passed away on Saturday, July 4, 2020 at St. Vincent Mercy, Toledo. She was born on March 16, 1945 in Fremont to the late, Granville and Carma (Holbert) Tucker. Shirley graduated from Fremont Ross High School in 1963 and from Rhema Bible College in 2005. She worked for Eaton Controls, Peter Eckerich and Brush Wellman retiring in 2000. On May 12, 1988, she married George Jackson in Toledo, OH, and they shared 31 years of marriage until his death on June 24, 2019.
She was active in the children’s ministry at Rhema Bible College in Broken Arrow, OK. She enjoyed a mission’s trip thru Germany to teach the word of Christ. Locally, Shirley was a member of Hand Maiden for King Jesus, was a former Director of Children’s Ministry for Greater St. James, and was also a member of the Mother’s Board at the Worship Center of Greater Toledo, but above all of the things she did, she will be remembered for her deep faith and love of God.
Left to cherish her memory are children, Jock Hicks of Tarheel, NC, Tomiko (David) Thomas of New York, NY, Charles (Nela) Hicks of Fremont, OH, Michael (Valerie) Hicks of Sandusky, OH, Michaela Jackson of Perrysburg, OH, Brandon Jackson of Cleveland, OH, and Laurice Hicks of Fremont, OH; grandchildren, Nicholas, Melyssa, Kiauna, Christian, Kiaura, Joshua, and Kiamora; great-grandchildren, Nickolas, Alexus, Alliyah, Ava, Nichole, Jayden, Noah, Mateo, Zanylah, Estella, and Esperanza; great-great-grandchild, Harper; siblings, Faye Brown, Constance Dungy, Madeline (James) Davis, Saundra (Brian) Lowe, David (Glenda) Tucker, Rebecca Bowers, and Leah (Derrill) Daniels; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she is preceded in death by her siblings, Timothy Tucker, Carma-Mae Tucker, Linda-Lee Tucker, and Theodore Tucker.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 9, 2020 at the Herman-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fremont from 1-3 & 5-7 p.m. Those attending are required to wear a mask to enter the facility. Please be patient as admittance will be guided to adhere to social distancing. Funeral Services will be privately held on Friday, July 10th at Greater St. James Church of God in Christ, Fremont.
