Sharon K. Cochey, 79, of Gibsonburg, passed away on February 4, 2021 at Bethesda Care Center in Fremont. She was born on October 18, 1941 in Fostoria, Ohio to Richard and Mable (Larcom) Bateson. She was a graduate of Risingsun High School. On April 25, 1989 she married Paul Cochey in Bradner, Ohio and he survives. Sharon was a fan of watching NASCAR, the Cavaliers, Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cleveland Browns. She also enjoyed baking, crocheting, doing word search and jigsaw puzzles, and spending time with her family.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Paul Cochey of Gibsonburg, daughter, Teresa (Barry) Leibold of Gibsonburg, step-children; Steven and Sandy, 7 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 5 step-great-grandchildren, siblings; Danny (Deb) Bateson of Green Springs, OH, Deb (Roger) Freeman of Parma, OH. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her son, Duane Clabaugh, siblings, Linda Carpenter, Carolyn Strawman, and Nancy Roberts.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 8, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Herman-Veh Funeral Home & Crematory, 319 W. Madison Street, Gibsonburg, OH, 43431. Funeral service will be held privately for the family following visiting. Use of a mask is required to enter the building and wait times may occur outside due to social distancing requirements. If you cannot attend please call 419-637-2026 to be added to the family’s guestbook.
Friends and family are invited to a 2:00 p.m. graveside service and burial at Greenlawn Memory Gardens, 1793 W. McPherson Hwy, Clyde, OH, 43410. Pastor Matthew Wheeler will officiate.
