Ruth E. Mitchell

Ruth E. Mitchell, 84 of Fremont passed away on December 22, 2024. She was born in 1940 to the late Emery and Bertha (Crawford) Bloom in Jerry City, Ohio.

Ruth graduated from Fremont Ross High School in 1958. She worked for a number of restaurants in Fremont for some time and then at Kroger's for several years. She married Denny E. Mitchell in December of 1976 and work led them to move to Southwestern Michigan in 1983 where they lived until his passing in October of 2021. While living in Michigan, Ruth sold Avon and worked at Brandywine Elementary School in Niles, Michigan as a Crossing Guard, Spelling Bee Coach, Tutor and as a mentor to a student who was special to her.

Ruth and Denny enjoyed camping over the years and she had a regular campsite at Meadowbrook Park in Bascom, Ohio. There she enjoyed the company of family on camping weekends and friends who visited regularly. She enjoyed going out to eat, especially at her favorite restaurants, Frisch's Big Boy and Denny's where she would meet up with and talk to friends old and new.

Her family will fondly remember her outgoing personality, determination to make the best of life, and being an inspiration to all with her kindness and humble nature.

Ruth is survived by her sons, Randall (Michelle) Baughman of Pickerington, Ohio, and Nelson Baughman Jr. of Bromley, Kentucky; daughter, Tina Baughman of Fremont; grandchildren, Rachel Kowalski, Amanda (Zach) Korby, and Jacqueline Baughman; great-grandchildren, Lily and Nora Korby and Penelope Dendinger; and siblings, Ralph (Chris) Bloom, Vera (Dan) Gressman, Rose Davis, and Michael (Kauleen) Bloom.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Denny E. Mitchell; son, Tony E. Baughman; parents, Emery and Bertha Bloom; and siblings, Basil Bloom, Harvey Bloom, Jack Bloom, and Deneice Bloom.

Graveside services will be held at a later date at Washington Chapel Cemetery.
