Ruth A. Ackerman

Ruth A. (Miller) Ackerman, 86 of Fremont passed away on December 3, 2024, at Elmwood Assisted Living & Skilled Nursing. She was born on May 26, 1938, to the late Wilbur E. and Gertrude (Meyer) Miller in Fremont. 

Ruth graduated from St. Joseph Catholic High School and went on to obtain a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Elementary Education from Bowling Green State University. She completed her student teaching at St. Joseph Catholic School with the unique challenge of an all boys class before teaching upper elementary classes at the Old Fort School System, and later several years at Stamm Elementary, retiring from the Fremont City School System. 

Throughout her career, Ruth received multiple excellent evaluations and was often recognized for her participation in school organizations and activities. 

After retirement, Ruth found great joy in volunteering her time with Meals on Wheels, the Fremont Senior Center, and the Humane Society of Sandusky County.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Kim Ackerman (Greg) Hoch of Fremont; grandchildren, Kristy Lozano, Ali Hoch, Collin Hoch, Tony Ackerman of Cuyahoga Falls, Linsay Gheta of Lorain, and Nick (Cassie) Ackerman; great-grandchildren J.T and Ella Lozano, Owen and Ellie Ackerman, and Lilly and Luke Gheta; brother, Roger (Catherine) Miller all of Fremont; sister-in-law, Gail Miller of Columbus; as well as several nieces and nephews. 

Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, Wilbur and Gertrude; cherished son, Chris T. Ackerman; granddaughter, Courtney Blodgett; brother, Richard Miller; sister, Sue Bakies; and beloved younger sister, Sr. Elaine (Rita Miller). 

Per Ruth's wishes, there will be no services or visitation.
