Ronald W. "Bill" Burroughs, 87 of Fremont, passed away Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at his residence. He was born February 23, 1935 in Fremont the son of Gerald William and Evelyn (Shorts) Burroughs. On August 17, 1985 he married Carol Toy at Spiegel Grove.
Bill was a 1954 graduate of Clyde High School and served in the United States Army as a Radio Repairman stationed in Korea and Japan with the rank of Private First Class. He was part owner of White Front Grocery Store in Clyde until 1958. He went on to work 22 years at Eckrich and retired in 1999 from Industrial Nut Corp in Sandusky after 11 years of service.
Upon his retirement, Bill worked at Keller-Ochs-Koch Funeral Home as a funeral attendant and hearse driver. He enjoyed gardening, taking care of his lawn, day trips to Amish Country with Carol. He was an avid Cleveland Browns Fan and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Surviving is his wife Carol Toy Burroughs; daughters Kelli Stump (Mike) and Kerri Johnson, sons: Ronald Jay (Beth), Robert Dray (Christine) ; brother James (Cyndi) Burroughs; grandchildren: Tony (Liz) Gilroy, Emily Gilroy, Tori & Taylor Johnson, Abigail Jay, Emma, Ryan and Noah Dray, Great-Granddaughter Brooke Owen; nieces and nephews Angela (Dan) Perkins, Jon, Jake (Libby)Burroughs.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Joyce Burroughs.
Visitation will take place on Monday, December 5, 2022 from 9:30-11:30 A.M. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 550 Smith Road, Fremont, OH. A Memorial Mass will begin at 11:30A.M. at the church with Fr. Chris Kardzis officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery with Military Graveside rites performed by the V.F.W. and American Legion. Memorial Contributions may be made to Promedica Heartland Hospice or St. Jude Children's Hospital. Online condolences may be expressed at www.hermanfh.com
