Roger W. Smith

Roger Smith, 88, passed away in the early morning of August 27, 2021, at his home. He was born on December 5, 1932 in Jerry City, Ohio, to Kenneth A. and E. Naomi (Carr) Smith.

Roger graduated from Gibsonburg High School in 1952.

On November 15, 1952, he married Barbara J. Collins at Hayes United Methodist Church in Fremont, and together shared 68 years.

Roger was a freemason, as well as a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Roger also served his country in the National Guard. He enjoyed bowling in his earlier years, and later in life, enjoyed spending time with his grand and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include Roger's wife, Barbara; children, Holly (Steve) Kromer of Lindsey, OH, Kim (Mark) Collins of Bradner, OH, Kevin (Denise) Smith of Christiana, TN, Keith Smith of Fremont, OH, Ryan (Michelle) Smith of Clyde, OH, and Andrea (Larry) Thurston of Fremont, OH; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Roger is preceded in death by his parents, E. Naomi, and Kenneth A. Smith.

Per Roger's request, there will not be services held at this time.

Memorial donations can be made in Roger's name to Trinity United Methodist Church, or to the Donor's Choice.
