Robert (Bob) L. Mayle of Port Clinton, Ohio, passed away on December 20, 2024. Born on April 12, 1936, in Fremont, Ohio, to Robert and Ruby Mayle, Bob always believed in the importance of family. He possessed a strong work ethic and treasured the unwavering love of his high school sweetheart and wife of 67 years, Dottie. She was truly his world; he always held her hand and carried her purse, deeply grateful for the love and care she gave him every day of their marriage.

In 1974, Bob founded RL Mayle Construction, and in 1995, he partnered with his children to form Custom Seal, Inc. Throughout his career, he was a boss, a mentor, a father-figure, and a friend, but above all, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Bob had many passions. In his spare time, he loved to hunt — whether it was for ducks with his son and friends or hunting for the perfect gift for his grandchildren with Dottie. He also enjoyed relaxing with a beer (or two) at Mayleville — or anywhere — and sharing stories with those around him. He was also passionate about restoring wooden boats, which was a well-known secret to everyone but his wife.

Bob and Dottie were fortunate to have a second home in Arizona, where they spent 40 wonderful years enjoying the dry heat and life in the desert. They also loved going out to eat. In the later years, the crew at A la Carte Café in Port Clinton took wonderful care of them and always made sure Bob had his beers, and Dottie had her wine.

Bob is survived by his wife of 67 years, Dorothy Mayle;his children, Steve (Mary) Mayle, Annette (John) Cronin, and Maribeth (Doug) Pearson; his grandchildren, Chris (Mary Anne) Mayle, Carrie Mayle, Kyle (Julie) Mayle, Kristi Cronin, Mindi (Mike) Wiechman, Cassi (Randy) Knapschaefer, Lucas Cronin, Nick Pearson, and Drew Pearson; and his great-grandchildren, Ella, Kaylee, Brody, Connor, Cora, and Hayden; brother-in-law, Raymond Ackerman; sister-in-law, Patricia Andecover. Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Ruby Mayle, and his sister, Ruth Ackerman; sister-in-law, Rosie Koralewski and brothers-in-law, Ron Gegorski and Richard Gegorski.

We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who supported Bob during his care, especially his honorary grandson, Bowen Schoch, as well as the dedicated staff at Home Instead, Genoa Retirement Village, and Heartland Hospice. Your kindness and compassion meant the world to him and our family.
