Richie "Buddy" May

Richie “Buddy” May, 17, of Oak Harbor, passed away February 4, 2022. He was born in Fremont, Ohio, on March 12, 2004, to Richard K. May and Shannon (Stump) Hunt. Richie was currently attending classes at the Penta Career Center. He was a bay attendant at Blue Beacon Truck Wash and also worked for Marco’s Pizza. Growing up, Richie was a huge baseball fan as well as a fan of the Detroit Lions and the Ohio State Buckeyes. He was a gifted musician and displayed exceptional skills with a guitar. His family fondly recalls that he could hear a piece of music and instantly be able to repeat it. Wherever he went his guitar went with him and he was always entertaining family and friends with his music and his singing. Aside from his musical talents, Richie will be remembered for being a figure of support for those he loved. He was a loyal friend, a fantastic brother and a loving son. He will be sorely missed by all those who had the privilege of knowing him and calling him family or friend.

Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Shannon (Casey Roberts) Hunt of Helena, Ohio; father, Richard K. May of Oak Harbor, Ohio; siblings, Clairissa (Owen Barnett) Stump, Dominick May, Cole May, Alex Keaton; step-siblings, J.J. and Emily; maternal grandparents, Roanna (Mike Rupke) Stump; paternal great-grandmother, Nancy “Busha” Ward; girlfriend, Alexandria Sidle; his canine companions, Brutus and Kyro, and many friends and extended family. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Wendy Ward; and paternal great-grandfather, Richard “Papa” Ward.

Visitation will be held Friday, February 11, 2022, from 12:00pm to 2:00pm and 4:00pm to 6:00pm at Herman-Veh Funeral Home & Crematory, 319 W. Madison Street, Gibsonburg, Ohio, 43431. A celebration of life service will begin at 6:00pm at the funeral home. Certified Celebrant Susann Robitski-Zimmerman will officiate.
