Richard Lee Meek, 88, of Fremont passed away on Friday, December 18, 2020. He was born on July 27, 1932 to the late Harold R. and Gladys (Ayers) Meek.
Richard joined the United States Marine Corps in 1950, proudly defending his country during the Korean War. He was discharged in 1953, with the rank of Sergeant.
A co-owner of Fremont Laundry, Richard was a hardworking man. He was also a very happy man, who was never seen with a frown. His family will remember him as extremely kind and loving. Richard was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Fremont VFW, Moose Lodge, and American Legion, as well as attending Grace Community Church. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, Ruth, and feeding the neighborhood wildlife from his backyard.
Surviving are his wife, Ruth; children, Steve (Nancy) Meek of Galloway, OH, David Meek of Fremont, Rich Meek of Troy, OH, and Cynthia (Denny) Shearon of Fremont; stepson, Kevin Lee (Francine) Cook of Beaufort, SC; 46 grandchildren, step-grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; brother, Charles Meek of Fremont; and sister-in-law, Alice Meek of Fremont.
Richard was preceded in death by his first wife, Anna Marie; brother, Kenneth Meek; stepdaughter, Kelly Lynn Preston; and sister-in-law, Lee Meek.
Graveside Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at 1:00 PM at Oakwood Cemetery. It is requested that masks be worn, and social distancing be observed at the cemetery.
