Rafael Curbelo

Rafael "Fello" Curbelo, 91, of Fremont passed away Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at Toledo Hospital. He was born June 12, 1932 in Quebradilla, Puerto Rico the son of Bernardino and Julia (Vargas) Curbelo. On July 21, 1962 he married Maria Del Carmen Colon at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Fremont.

Rafael worked in maintenance at Lady of the Pines and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Together with Maria,  they spent their time at Bible studies, retreats and Cursillo's. Fello was a family man, an avid gardener and loved tinkering with cars. He loved to ensure that his vehicles were "dressed up", clean and waxed.  

Surviving is his wife Maria, children Raymond Curbelo and Edwin (Michelle) Curbelo both of Fremont, Raul Curbelo of Puerto Rico; grandsons Noah Curbelo, Isaac Curbelo, Giovanni Curbelo, Jonathan Curbelo, Jessica Curbelo, Raunel Curbelo; siblings Lucy Valentine, Juan Curbelo, Angel Curbelo, Fella Miro, Elba Romero, Auria Curbelo, Melito Curbelo. He was preceded in death by his parents, children Rafel Jr., George, and Carmen Maria; siblings Israel Curbelo, Lucy Perez, Freddie Curbelo, Maria Gonzales, Virginia Curbelo.

Visitation will take place on Friday,  August 4, 2023 from 2-4 and 6-8P.M. at Herman-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Crematory, 900 North Street, Fremont, OH. A Funeral Mass will begin at 10:00A.M. on Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 550 Smith Road Fremont, OH; additional visiting at Sacred Heart will take place on hour prior to services begining at 9:00A.M.
