Patricia L. Sworden, 88, passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2025 at Bethesda Care Center. Born on October 7, 1936, in Fremont, Patricia was a daughter to the late Dale and Melba (Landis) Vallance. 

She was a graduate of Gibsonburg High School, Class of 1955. On September 21, 1957, she married Richard "Pete" Sworden. Together they shared 58 years of marriage until his passing in 2016 also on January 29th.

She raised her children in Gibsonburg and worked at the Gibsonburg Grain Elevator, Veh & Son's and Reino Linen Service until moving to Arizona for Pete's job.

Patricia treasured her role as a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, sharing countless memories of love and laughter with her grandchildren. Patricia also enjoyed taking trips to the casino and cheering on the Arizona Wildcats basketball team.

She is survived by her loving children, Kelly Sleek of Fremont, Greg (Dana) Sworden of Oro Valley, AZ and Wendy (Brian) Woods of Fremont; grandchildren, AJ (Melinda) Sleek, Mandy (Brady) Shull, Amber (Brett) Gips, Shaylyn (Zach) Sweety, Shelby (Michael) Ross, Melissa (Clint) Faile, and Wendy (Bryce) Nielsen; 16 great-grandchildren; and sister, Mary Smith of Gibsonburg.

Patricia was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Douglas Sworden; and sister, Claudette Teeple.

The family would like to extend a thank you to the nurses and aides at Bethesda in the memory care unit for taking care of our ornery mother.

Visitation will be held at the Herman-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Crematory, Fremont on Thursday, February 13, 2025 from 10A-12P with the service beginning at noon at the funeral home. Certified Celebrant Maureen Pump will officiate. In honor of Patricia, the family suggested jeans and a favorite college apparel.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in honor of Patricia may be made to Humane Society of Sandusky County.
