Ora Jane "Sam" Hamilton

Ora Jane “Sam” Hamilton, of Lindsey, Ohio lost her courageous battle with cancer on August 23, 2020 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 3, 1953 in Fremont, Ohio to George and Ida Fern Humphrey. She found her forever home with Elza and Alice Faye Maynard.          

She married Robert Vincent Hamilton on May 13, 1972 and he survives. She graduated from Gibsonburg in 1972. She retired from Windsor Lane Health Care Center after dedicating twenty-two years of faithful service.

Sam loved crocheting and camping and traveling with long-time friends Terry and Marcia Morelock. Her most cherished past-time was spending time with family and friends.

Sam is preceded in death by birth parents and forever parents. She is survived by her two daughters, Tammy (Paul Whitaker) of Lindsey, Ohio and Angela (David Ickes) of Gibsonburg, Ohio. Seven grandchildren, three bonus grandchildren, and fourteen great grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters Susie Adkins of Chicago, Illinois and Lina (George) Huether, brothers Gary Maynard, Randy (Thelma) Maynard, and Robert (Diane) Maynard all of Gibsonburg, Ohio.

Pallbearers will be Curtis Heminger, Robert Heminger, Brian Crowl, Troy Ickes, Jeremy Heminger, and Edward Ickes.

Visitation will be held at the Herman-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Gibsonburg on Wednesday, August 26, 2020 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM. Those attending are required to wear a mask to enter the facility. Please be patient as admittance will be guided to adhere to social distancing. A socially distanced funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 27 at Ole Zim’s Wagon Shed; 1375 N, OH-590, Gibsonburg, OH 43431 at 10 AM. Graveside services will follow at West Union Cemetery. Pastor Forrest Kirchenbauer to officiate.

Memorials may be given to Windsor Lane Health Care Center (Dementia Unit) or Heartland Hospice.

The family of Sam wish to extend their sincere thanks to our family at Windsor Lane Health Care Center, Heartland Hospice, and the many family and friends that provided meals, love and support.
