Nancy C. Roddy, 83, of Fremont, peacefully passed away Sunday, June 11, 2023 at home. She was born
April 15, 1940 in Tiffin, OH, the daughter of Edward and Ruby (Lilley) Pump. Nancy was a 1958 graduate of
Fremont Ross and attended Ohio University earning a degree in banking. She went on to work for
Croghan Colonial Bank, retiring in 2007 as a Loan Officer.
On September 2, 1961 she married C. Donald Roddy at Grace Lutheran Church. Together they
celebrated 50 years of marriage and traveling adventures. Don preceded her in death on September 13,
2011.
Nancy was a member of Grace Lutheran Church where she was involved in various church organizations
and a founding member of the Bell Choir. She was recently recognized as the longest serving Bell Choir
member, an honor which she held dear to her heart. She was a believer of living life to its fullest,
enjoying the company of people, travel, live theatre, musical performances and was enrolled in the Life
Scholars program at Terra. Nancy continuously gave back to her community by volunteering with
American Heart Association and as a volunteer at Memorial Hospital. She also was active with Habitat
for Humanity, Liberty Center, Village House and served on the Sandusky County Metropolitan Housing
Authority board. A mother to many, Nancy was a long-time Girl Scout Leader who sent many young
ladies into the world with confidence.
Surviving are her daughters Tamara (Chris) Holmes of Indianapolis, IN; Kimberly (Robert) Gabel of
Fremont, OH; Kelly Roddy of Bowling Green, OH; Holly (John) Elder of Fremont, OH; grandchildren: Erin
Shannon, Zachary Gabel, Maeve Elder, Claire Elder, Keelin McHugh and Connor McHugh; great-
grandchildren: Jack, Noah and Oliva Shannon; sisters Diane (Willie) Watts of Clyde, OH; Patricia Fisher of
Springfield, OH. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother Eddie Fisher.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, July 15, 2023, at Grace Lutheran Church. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. until the time of Memorial Services at 11 a.m. Maureen Pump will officiate. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. A luncheon will follow at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Grace Lutheran Church or Heartland Hospice.
