On Friday, September 10, 2021, Nancy (Nan) V. Franks, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother, passed away at home surrounded by her family at the age of 81. Nancy was born on September 11, 1939 to Jack C. Mitten and Ruth T. Cummings Mitten in Brooklyn, New York. The family moved to Pennsylvania in 1944 then to Ohio in 1948.
On June 24, 1957 she married Alvin F. Franks in Mississippi. In Ohio, they raised two daughters, Leslie and Lisa, and two sons, Michael and Timothy.
Nancy spent each day devoted to the happiness of others. She was always giving and not taking. At Christmas she did not want to receive gifts. Cooking the entire meal and passing out gifts to her family and friends is what gave her the most satisfaction. Family, friends, neighbors, and strangers could come to her for a homemade meal and smile anytime. She never met anyone that she didn’t leave a lasting meaningful impression on. Her witty, outspoken personality made everyone laugh. She truly appreciated the beauty of each day. And was in awe of God’s creation. She loved to absorb the sun and the breeze at the ocean. She also enjoyed playing Bingo and sharing her winnings. Although she lived a life of much heartache and losses, she remained focused on enjoying life and her family. Nancy was so much more than a friend, mother, and grandmother, she was the best.
We love you Nan
