Michael F. Nehls

Michael F. Nehls,  71 of Fremont passed away on May 11, 2023. He was born on June 2, 1951 to the late Carol E. and Frances (Boomer) Nehls in Port Clinton.

Michael attended Oak Harbor High School before working for the Kelsey Hayes Corporation in quality control for 37 years.

On September 21, 1973, he married Marcia Elfring in Bellevue and shared over 49 years together. 

Michael enjoyed woodworking and camping in his spare time and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Marcia; children, Brian (Angie) Nehls and Stephen (Marianne) Nehls; grandchildren, Mason, Maddox, Brynn, Addyson, and Estie; great-granddaughter, Anastasia; siblings, Madonna "Cookie" (Terry) Vine and Mark (Dawn) Nehls;  and brothers-in-law, Richard (Sharon) Elfring and Bill Wittman; along with many nieces and nephews. 

Michael is preceded in death by his parents, Carol and Frances; sister, Mary Ann Wittman, and nephew, Bob Wittman.

A time of visitation will be held on Wednesday May 17 from 3:00-7:00PM at the Herman-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Crematory, Fremont. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday May 18 at St. Joseph Catholic Church beginning at 10:00AM with Fr. Matt Frisbee officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. 

Donations in Michael's name may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church or to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
