Mardel Mae Haslinger, 98, of Gibsonburg, passed away November 12, 2022, at Elmwood Communities in Fremont. She was born in Hessville on September 12, 1924, to Charles and Mabel (Sevits) Shammo. Mardel was a 1942 graduate of Scott High School in Toledo. On October 12, 1946, she married Joseph S. Haslinger at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Fremont, and he preceded in her in death on August 5, 2005. Mardel co-owned and operated Haslinger Orchards with her husband until retiring in 1997. She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Gibsonburg and the Altar Rosary Society, the American Legion Auxiliary, and the Ohio Horticultural Society.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Donna (Lance) Krotzer of Gibsonburg; sons, Steven (Mary) of Gibsonburg, David (Judy) of Angola, IN, Fred (Leslie) of Fremont, Daniel (Rebecca) of Waterville, Tim of Gibsonburg; 18 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren; sister, Mary Ann Collins of Fairborn, OH.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she is preceded in death by her siblings, Alice Shammo, Lucille Hoodlebrink, Margorie Gregg, Susie Hiser, Patricia Kline, Robert, Donald, Clyde, Ralph, and Bill Shammo.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 16, 2022, from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM with a vigil beginning at 6:30PM, at Herman-Veh Funeral Home & Crematory, 319 W. Madison Street, Gibsonburg, OH, 43431. A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, November 17, 2022, at 9:30 AM at St. Michael Catholic Church, 317 E. Madsion Street, Gibsonburg. Fr. Thomas Varghese will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Lawrence Cemetery in Gibsonburg. For those unable to attend, live-streaming of services will be available on Mardel’s obituary page.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Michael Catholic Church.
