Lucille Faist

Lucille Faist, 98, formerly of Gibsonburg passed away on Wednesday, January 18, 2023. She was born on May 27, 1924, in Graytown, Ohio, to Edward and Luella (Kranz) Roepke. Lucille was a 1942 graduate of Elmore High School.

In 1948, she married the love of her life, Carl Howard Faist and he preceded her in death on March 31, 2014. Lucille and Carl ran Faist Jewelry Store together for 50 years, where she did everything but fix the watches. In her free time, she volunteered at the blood drives for the Red Cross, played in bridge and pinochle card clubs, and was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. Lucille also loved spending time with her grandchildren, who have fond memories of spending their weekends playing ball, making milkshakes or going to the bakery with their grandparents.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Carol (Charles) Houdeshell of Fremont; grandchildren, Valerie (Tom) Szakovits, Emily (Scott) Nieset, Stephanie (Jim) Hom, Brian (Jennifer) Haubert; 8 great-grandchildren; siblings, Joanne (Robert) Bruning and Diane Fowler.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she is preceded in death by her siblings, Betty Bennett, Charles, Jim and David Roepke.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Elmwood Assisted Living & Skilled Nursing of Fremont for their wonderful care of Lucille over the last several years.

Visitation for Lucille will be held on Monday, January 23, 2023, from 10:00 AM until the start of funeral services at 10:30 AM at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 500 S. Brentwood Drive Gibsonburg, OH, 43431. Pastor Matthew Zuehlke will officiate. Burial will follow at North Union Cemetery, Gibsonburg.
