Leslie Kaye Bechtel, 76, of Gibsonburg passed away in the evening of July 18, 2020 at his home. He was born on December 22, 1943 to the late Robert and Maxine (Wertz) Bechtel in Fremont.
On May 30, 1964, he married Florence Unger, and shared 56 years together in marriage.
A 1961 graduate of Gibsonburg High School, Leslie went on to the Andrew-Toledo Barber College and began his 50-year long career as a barber at Bechtel’s Barber Shop in Gibsonburg. He retired in 2010.
Leslie enjoyed restoring anything with wheels and was a member of the Cushman Club of America, Model A Restorer’s Club, S.C.R.A.P., and the John Deere Two Cylinder Club. He was also a faithful member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Gibsonburg.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Florence; children, Scott (Janet) Bechtel of Findlay, and Stacy (Philip) Alldredge of Gibsonburg; grandchildren, Stephanie, Sarah, and Sydney Alldredge; and sister, Suzanne (Tim) Sochor of Helena.
Leslie is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Maxine.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 22, 2020 at the Herman-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Gibsonburg from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Those attending are required to wear a mask to enter the facility. Please be brief and patient as admittance will be guided to adhere to social distancing. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday 10:30 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Gibsonburg with Father Scott Woods officiating. A graveside service will follow at St. Lawrence Cemetery. Live-streaming of Les' services will also be available at www.hermanfh.com on the day of services.
