Leroy L. Hansen

Leroy L. Hansen, 84, of Helena, passed away at his home on Monday, May 2, 2022. He was born on May 9, 1937 to the late Lawrence Hansen and Gertrude Rewaldt. Leroy was a 1956 graduate of Salem-Oak Harbor High School. Following his graduation, he enlisted in the US Army, serving from 1956-1959.

Leroy spent over 40 years in the trucking industry. He received accolades for safely driving 1 million miles spanning the last 15 years of his driving career.

One day, while making a delivery to the local grain elevator, he met the love of his life, Joyce E. Bower. They were married on Feb. 18, 1966 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Kingsway, sharing 56 years of marriage until his passing.

Even though he liked to read and spend time outdoors, Leroy will be remembered for the love and dedication he had for his family. His church membership previously at Trinity Lutheran Church, Kingsway and currently at Zion Lutheran Church, Gibsonburg were also very important to him.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Joyce; children, Charles (Laurie) Hansen of Fremont, Michelle (Shannon) Fairbanks of Helena, Anthony (Kerry) Hansen of Kansas, OH, Pamela (Michael) Fraley of Helena, and Robert (Jessica) Hansen of Gibsonburg; grandchildren, Cody (Demaree) Wheeler, Alyssa & Jenna Hansen, Gavin & Alex Fairbanks, Karli, Brody, Ella, Cooper & Ivy Hansen, Isaac & Brianna Fraley, and Sam Hansen; and great-grandchildren, Quinn Wheeler, Andrew & Garrett LaGrange.

A Memorial Visitation will be held at Zion Lutheran Church, Gibsonburg on Saturday, May 14, 2022 from 10-11 A.M. with a Memorial Service to follow at 11:00 A.M. Pastor Matthew Zuehlke will officiate.

Memorial Contributations may be made to Zion Lutheran Church or ProMedica Heartland Hospice in honor of Leroy.
