Judith M. Samson

Judith M. Samson, aka, “Judy Bird”, 77, of Gibsonburg, passed away December 29, 2019 at ProMedica Bay Park Hospital in Oregon, Ohio. She was born in Toledo on October 2, 1942 to Francis and Virginia (Gadomski) Werning. Judith was a graduate of Woodward High School and earned her nursing degree from the Toledo School of Practical Nursing. She was a longtime aide and LPN for Otterbein Portage Valley Nursing Home and Plaza Care Center until she retired in 2013. Judith was a loving sister, mother, grandmother and “grandma-ma”. Her family was her life. She loved going on yearly trips with her sisters to Hilton Head, hosting cookouts and always being surrounded by close friends and family. She enjoyed playing euchre with her best friend Alvina Krotzer, camping, doing puzzles and watching old movies and TV shows, especially “I Love Lucy”.

Left to cherish her memory are her children; Julie (Jeff Lentz) Foster of Wayne, Ohio, Kim Lewandowski, Scott (Ann) Lewandowski, Joseph (Rita Costilla) Lewandowski all of Gibsonburg, Natalie (Justin) Schonk of St. Augustine, Florida, grandchildren; Amanda, Kelly, Joshua, Jessica, Jamie, Jordan, Sarah, Joanna, Dakota, Emily, Holly, Austin, Brooke, Alexis and Caitlynn, many great-grandchildren, siblings; Diane (Denny) Moon of Toledo, OH, Christine (Bruce) Golatka of Bowling Green, Ohio, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Richard Todd Lewandowski, her sister, Kay Vick, and two great-grandchildren.

Burial will be held privately for her family at West Union Cemetery in Gibsonburg, Ohio. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in the care of her daughter, Julie Foster, for Judith’s funeral services.
