Juan Mata

El Señor Juan Mata, 71, of Fremont passed away on Sat., Dec. 14, 2019 at Firelands Regional Medical Center. He was born on March 13, 1948 in Weslaco, TX to the late Andres and Ester (Vasquez) Mata. He worked as a ground’s keeper for TJ Farms.

Juan will be remembered as a great counselor that was always there to give support without judgement. His love of his family and grandchildren was unconditional. Juan often would ask the love of his life, wife Maria, if she was up for “Taking a cruise” which would always be a new adventure. He liked to collect rosaries, hats, and Zipo lighters. He enjoyed all music and being outdoors, which included gardening, fishing and being on the water.

Surviving Juan are his children, Laura Mata, Gilberto (Leslie) Rojas Jr., Juan J. (Angel) Mata of AZ, Sara (Adrian) Minor, and “Melisa” (Jimbo) Barnes all of Fremont; 19 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Olga Vela, Martin Mata and Roy Mata.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Maria Marta Mata; daughters, Irma L. Mata & Angelica M. Mata; parents, Andres Mata & Ester Mata; and 8 siblings.

May it be known that Juan Mata demonstrated thoughtfulness and consideration for others by selflessly giving the Gift of Life through tissue donation.

Visitation will be held on Thurs., Dec. 19, 2019 from 3-5 p.m. at Herman-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 900 North Street, Fremont, Ohio, 43420. Funeral Services will begin at 5:00 p.m. Pastor Melanie Guzman-Martinez will officiate.
