Joyce E. Myers

Joyce E. Myers, 90, of Fremont, passed away peacefully Sunday, Jan. 27, 2019 at Elmwood Assisting Living, Fremont. She was born on December 24, 1928 in Fremont to Harry & Clara (Miarer) Overmyer.

Joyce was a 1946 graduate of Fremont Ross High School. She worked for Liberty National Bank for 15 years.  She then took a fulfilling role of 25 years as office secretary at Faith Lutheran Church where she was a member, served on numerous Church committees and sang in the choir for over 50 years.  Joyce also volunteered as a hostess in the surgery lounge following her retirement, every Tuesday, at ProMedica Memorial Hospital.

On July 28, 1951, Joyce married the love of her life, Ralph Myers at Salem Lutheran Church. Together, they celebrated 60 wedding anniversaries until Ralph’s passing on January 31, 2012. Surviving Joyce is her daughter, Debra (David) Griffiths of Mason, Ohio; granddaughter, Katie Griffiths; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Swedersky of Fremont and Dora Myers of Castalia; and many nieces and nephews.

Joyce is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ralph Myers; and brother, Robert D. Overmyer.

Visitation will be from 2-5 p.m. at the Herman-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fremont on Saturday, Feb. 2. Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, Feb. 3, 2 p.m., at Faith Lutheran Church where there will be an additional hour of visitation prior to the start of the service. Pastor Juli Lejman-Guy will officiate. Private burial will be at Four Mile House Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Heintz Memorial Fund at Faith Lutheran Church, ProMedica Memorial Hospital’s Golden Threads or to Spiegel Grove of Fremont.
