Jon LaPlant, 64, of Gibsonburg, passed away Monday, March 3, 2025 at his residence. He was born November 15, 1960 in Oregon, OH the son of James and Patricia (Perry) LaPlant.

Jon was much more than just a skilled craftsman-he was a loving grandfather who cherished every moment spent with his grandkids. He enjoyed woodworking, cheering on the Dallas Cowboys, or a good game of bowling. Jon eagerly awaited the next project. His sons have been proud to inherit his strong work ethic and pride in their work. 

Surviving are his sons: Micheal (Dawn), Brian, Nicholas (Suzie), Jonathan (Dinease) and Cory; their mother and his former wife of 36 years Gloria Firman; grandchildren: Faith, Brynlee, Carson, Gabriel and Grace; siblings, Sharon (Chet) Echelbarger of Seville, OH, Shirley Sprague of Findlay, Barbara (Dave Zabojnik) Record of Texas, Brenda LaPlant of Gibsonburg, Douglas (Laura) of Findlay, Donna (Rick) Fairbanks of Bradner, James (Melody) of Gibsonburg, Patricia (Robert) Corban of Sandusky, and Pamela (Jon) Kerns of Fremont. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will take place on Sunday, March 9, 2025 from 2-6PM at Herman-Veh Funeral Home, 319 W. Madison Street, Gibsonburg, OH. A Funeral Mass will begin at 10:00AM on Monday at St. Michael Catholic Church, Gibsonburg, Fr. Ted Miller will officiate. Burial will follow at West Union Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Saint Michael Catholic Church, Gibsonburg.
