John Willard Walter, 82, of Fremont, passed away Thursday, May 16 at Valley View Health Campus. He was born in Fremont on May 21, 1941 to the late Willard and Mildred (Dicken) Walter. 

As a graduate of Jackson Burgoon High School, John went on to become an office clerk at Acon Construction in Clyde.

John was a faithful member of the United Church of Christ in Oak Harbor, helping with youth outings and other events. He enjoyed trips to the Dairy Queen with his nieces and nephews and had a kind, generous heart. 

John was very close to his siblings and their children. Left to cherish his memory are his brother, Allen (Susan) Walter; nieces and nephews Crista Wisely, Greg Walter, Kirk Summey, Kevin Walter and Michele (Tom) Cassidy; 12 great nieces and nephews, many great-great nieces and nephews, and life long friend, Larry Babione.

He is preceded in death by his siblings, Carol (Louis) Summey, Lee (Janet) Walter, and Tom Walter; and his faithful friend, Dixie Bell his dog.

A Memorial Service for John will be held Saturday, June 15, at Trinity United Methodist Church in Fremont beginning at 11:00AM. There will be a time of food and fellowship following the service. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Childrens Research Hospital, the Cerebal Palsey Foundation, or to the donor's choice.
