John Raymond Silva of Fremont, Ohio entered fully into the presence of the Lord on Thursday, July 14, 2022 after 5 years of battling dementia. John passed peacefully at his home with family members at his side. As John's soul goes to be with Christ, his body is bestowed to further the education of the medical students at the University of Toledo Medical College in hopes to find a cure of his disease for future generations and to prepare the students knowledge and confidence to fulfill their careers. He was born on May 6, 1930 in Conception, Texas, the son of the late Guadalupe and Marcela (Salinas) Silva. His family moved to Findlay, Ohio in 1941, where he met the love of his life Stella P. Perez and married her on April 24, 1950. John was a veteran of the Ohio Army National Guard from 1949-1965 with a rank of Staff Sergeant. John worked for the then Clyde Porcelain Company in 1951 which was purchased by Whirlpool Corporation and he retired in 1992. After retiring from Whirlpool, John worked for the Fremont Country Club for 5 years.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Church and attended Victory Christian Fellowship in Fremont. His hobbies included spending time with his grandchildren and watching their sporting events, golfing, mowing his lawn, watching TV westerns and the Andy Griffith Show.
Survivors include his children, Becki (Marvin) Wagner, Daniel R. Silva and Dean (Donna) Silva all of Fremont, Phyllis Ramondino of New York; grandchildren, Mary Rae (Joseph) Traudt, Nathan Joseph Wagner, Dannielle Rae (Roman) Ruppert, Eric Allen Joseph (Dana) Silva, Ellen Renee Kathryn (Elliott) Goetz, and Easton Michael Bernell Silva; great-grandchildren, Katie Rae Traudt, Jack Evan Traudt, Ryan Joseph Traudt, Jade Kelly Kayser, Gabriel Antonio Ontiveros, Adrian Daniel Ontiveros, Jaxston Thomas Ruppert, Jacobe Thomas Ruppert, Brynn Nicole Ruppert, Tayler Elizabeth Ruppert, Domminic Tiberius Wagner; siblings, Emede Silva, Louis Silva, and Hortencia (Tensha) Portalez.
He is preceded in death by his devoted wife, Stella; granddaughter, Kelly Lynn Wagner; great-granddaughter, Solana Rayne Ruppert; sister-in-law, Maria Silva; brother-in-law, Jesus Portales; and siblings, Angela Silva (Juan) Marquez, Nicolas (Beatrice) Silva, Mauricio (Julia) Silva, Jose (Mary) Silva, and Manuel Silva.

Services will be held at a later date, followed by burial at McGormley Cemetery in Fremont.
