John Curtice Quaintance 69, passed away on April 8, 2025, surrounded by his family at his home in Kingsport, TN. He was born May 27, 1955 in Fremont, the son of James and Dorothy (Blechinger) Quaintance. John was a graduate of St. Joseph Central Catholic High School.
After college, John's professional journey took him through various roles in the newspaper publishing industry, where he became a respected manager known for his extensive experience and operational strength. He worked in distinctive markets, including Fremont, OH, Bridgewater, NJ, Jackson, TN, Gainesville, GA, Louisville, KY, and Lima, OH. His commitment to excellence was evident as he ascended through the ranks to become Circulation Director and Regional Circulation Director. A graduate of the Gannett Circulation Executive Training Program, John was an advocate for customer service who often remarked, "It all starts with the basics; operational issues should never get in the way of sales." His unwavering commitment to customer service helped shape not only the organizations he worked for but also the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Outside of his professional life, John was a caring and social individual with an infectious smile that lit up every room. He cherished his family deeply, making his children a priority and attending their events and fostering their pursuits with genuine interest. His passion extended to his beloved dogs, Ellie and the late Katie, who brought joy to his days. A dedicated husband, father, and friend, John leaves behind a legacy of hard work, kindness, and unwavering support for those he cherished.
John is survived by his wife Lisa Quaintance; daughter Erin (Ben) Shirey; son, Sam Quaintance; siblings Joe (Connie), James (Janet) Quaintance; Lori Stull, Teresa (Chris) George, Denice (Chris) Hirt; sister -in-law, Cathy (Dennis) Dern; sisters in law Amy Walthall and Karin Thue; father-in-law Chet Walthall; numerous nieces and nephews. John is preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will take place Monday, April 14, 2025 from at 11:00 AM- 1:00P.M. at Herman-Karlovetz, Funeral Home & Crematory, 900 North Street, Fremont, OH. Funeral services will begin at 1P.M. at the funeral home officiated by Fr. Matthew Frisbee. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery
