Jim Stout, 70, of Gibsonburg, passed away June 24, 2022. He was born on December 1, 1951, in Fremont, Ohio, to Rollyn and Hazel (Balsizer) Stout. Jim was a 1970 graduate of Gibsonburg High School. On September 10, 1971, Jim married his high school sweetheart, Nancy Smith, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Gibsonburg, and they enjoyed fifty wonderful years of marriage until his passing.
He worked at Gordon Lumber for 13 years before transitioning to maintenance for Gibsonburg Schools. He finished his working career at the Sandusky County Park District where he retired on June 29, 2016. In his free time Jim loved to bowl, and had two perfect “300” games on December 10, 1987, and again on March 5, 1998. He was a skilled woodworker, enjoyed saw blade sharpening, was an avid racing fan of any kind, but particularly NASCAR and sprint car, and enjoyed vacation cruises with his friends. Most of all, Jim loved spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Gibsonburg.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Nancy Stout of Gibsonburg; children, Aaron (Char) Stout of Helena, Andy (Lori) Stout of Gibsonburg; grandchildren, Anna (Marcus), Emma, Ellie, Aubrey (Trevor), Elliott (Ellen), Cameron, Alayna, great-grandson, Crew, and one great-grandchild on the way. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, David Stout.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 29, 2022, from 2:00pm-4:00pm and 6:00pm-8:00pm at Herman-Veh Funeral Home & Crematory, 319 W. Madison Street, Gibsonburg, OH, 43431. A Funeral Mass will be on Thursday, June 30, 2022, at 10:30am at St. Michael Catholic Church, 317 E. Madison Street, Gibsonburg, OH, 43431. Burial will follow at Washington Chapel Cemetery. For those unable to attend, live-streaming of Jim’s services will be available by following the link on his obituary page.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Michael Catholic Church or to the Gibsonburg Athletic Department, 740 S, Main Street, Gibsonburg, OH, 43431.
