Gibsonburg resident, Jean DeAngelis, 90, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by the love and care of her family. She was born on November 11, 1933 in Bloomville, OH to the late Arthur and Frieda (Strouse) Davis.
Jean graduated in 1951 from Gibsonburg High School. On February 6, 1954, she married the love of her life Louis DeAngelis. After a short honeymoon, Louis returned to the service and Jean went to work as a bookkeeper at Gordon Lumber. Later she took on the roll of bookkeeper for her sister's Ceramic shop, Jerry's Ceramics & Crafts and then at the Brush Wellman Cafeteria, Patti Jean's.
Through the years she was a diligent homemaker being sure to keep a clean home, bake special treats and continue to keep her family close with family gatherings. She enjoyed bowling and was on ladies leagues. She also was part of Bunco club and played many games of Bingo.
Left to cherish her memory are her children Connie (Dennis) Molter-Wagner of Gibsonburg, Richard of Central Islip, NY, Michael (Diane) of Nashville, TN, Mark (Jennifer) of Tulsa, OK, Barbara Parkins of Ada, OH, and Susan DeAngelis of Rossford, OH; grandchildren David, Christina, Andrew, Amanda, Nate, Joey, Katherine, Brandon, Johnny, and Monica; and 6 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband Louis who passed after sharing 41 years of marriage; parents; daughter Patti DeAngelis; and sisters Geraldine Jett and Nancy McQuay.
Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association or St. Michael's Catholic Church.
The family would like to express their deep gratitude for the excellent care given to their mom by the extraordinary doctors, Dr. Ravi Narra, Dr. Dean M. Bernardo, Dr. Adnan Al-Khalili; and the wonderful nurses at United Energy Workers and Southern Care Hospice.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 3, 2024 from 2-7 PM at the Herman-Veh Funeral Home & Crematory, Gibsonburg. There will be an additional hour of Visitation at the funeral home on Monday, March 4th from 10-11 AM with Funeral Services beginning at 11 AM. Fr. Tad Oxley will officiate and burial will follow at West Union Cemetery, Gibsonburg.
