Janice "Kay" Saam, 80, of Helena passed away on Friday, August 5, 2022 at Blanchard Valley Hospice, Bowling Green. She was born on March 17, 1942 in Bettsville to the late Charles and Bertha (Whicker) Wollam.
She married Donald Saam on January 25, 1964. Together they had 4 children, Christina, Jeff, Daniel, and Michelle. Kay was a homemaker, and she enjoyed tending to her home and children while Donald was working. Kay continued to do so even after a tragic accident at work took Donald's life, and he passed on Jan. 28, 1985.
Kay was everyone's sweetheart. She will be remembered for always trying to capture the good moments by taking pictures, tending to yard and garden, and her caring heart for cats and tiny dogs. But, above all these things, Kay will be remembered for her deep love of her family.
Surviving is her son, Jeffrey (Martina Gravel) Saam of Bradner, Daniel (Mary) Saam of Bowling Green, and Michelle (Walt) Getzinger of Fostoria; 16 grandchildren; and 37.5 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; step-dad, Harold Thomas; infant daughter, Christina JoAnn; and siblings, Gail DeVanna, Betty Stape, and Jim Wollam.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, Aug. 11, 2022 from 11am-1pm at the Herman-Veh Funeral Home & Crematory, Gibsonburg. Funeral Services will begin at 1pm with Rev Dean Grow officiating.
Burial will follow at West Union Cemetery, Gibsonburg.
