Janet R. Gloer, 90, of Fremont passed away on Thursday, May 13, 2021 at her home. She was born on October 7, 1930 to the late Ernest and Helen (Baker) Ruch.
She met the love of her life, Eldon “Dutch” Gloer while roller skating in Tiffin, and on July 24, 1951, they were married at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Together they spent 44 loving years until his passing in 1995.
Janet was an avid gardener and enjoyed spending time in her little community around Rodger Young Park, and fishing when her children were young. Line-dancing was a great pastime at the senior center, and she was very proud of her embroidery work, as it had won her multiple ribbons at the Sandusky County Fair. Janet’s family will always remember her ‘cookie corner’, where even neighborhood children would stop in for a treat.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Beverly Rich, Steven (Veronica) Gloer, Mary (Dave) Brown, Ron (Sherry) Gloer, and Linda Nahm; 8 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
Janet is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Eldon; brothers, Dean and Richard Ruch; and her “best buddy”, Petey the talking parrot.
A time of visitation for Janet will be held on Friday, May 21, 2021 from 10:00AM-1:00 PM, with funeral services at 1:00 PM at Herman-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Crematory, Fremont. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Memorial donations in Janet’s name may be made to the Fremont Senior Center, or the Alzheimer’s Association.
