James "Jim" Allen Shammo, 63, of Gibsonburg passed away on Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg. He was born in Fremont on February 20, 1961.
In 1979, he graduated from Gibsonburg High School, and later that year on November 3rd married his high school sweetheart, Cathy Olmstead.
Jim leaves a legacy of hard work. He was a part-time farmer and even after educating himself in the trades, continued to farm and raise sheep when his kids were little. He dedicated over 30 years as a proud member of the Insulators Local 45 in Toledo. Even after his retirement in 2017, Jim took on jobs when he was available in the summers. He and Cathy loved taking their camper to Florida to spend their winters every year. They could also be found taking detours to New Orleans and Flora-Bama. They would also stop at the Talladega Nascar race every year on their way back home.
Every weekend Jim played a few games of Cornhole whether it was in Florida or Ohio. It was also known that he loved motorcycles and taking rides on his Harley-Davidson. He was a member of the Bettsville American Legion, and an avid Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Indians (otherwise known as the Guardians) fan.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife Cathy; daughter, Jessica (Andrew) Morrison of Newark, OH; and grandchildren, Mackinze and Leah Morrison, Alena Oswald, Madison and Elizabeth Mitchell.
He is preceded in death by his children, Nicole Shammo Oswald and Cody Shammo.
There will be a celebration of his life held at a later date.
Memorials in honor of Jim may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
