Helen Overly, 86, of Burgoon passed away at Good Shepherd Home, Fostoria on Sunday, December 24, 2023. She was born on May 30, 1937 in Punxsutawney, PA to Blair and Freda (Powell) Gahagan.

Helen graduated from Punxsutawney High School. Later, on October 8, 1955, she married Ray Overly in Northfield, Ohio. They shared 66 years of marriage until his passing in 2021. Through the years, Helen was happy to be a stay at home mom and make her house a home.

In her spare time, Helen enjoyed bowling and playing on bowling leagues. For 20 years, Helen delivered Mobile Meals for community members. She was a long standing and active member of the Church of the Brethren in Bristolville, Ohio. She found comfort in sharing her talents as well as helping others by quilting at the church. Her family, friends, and neighbors will cherish the many special visits she made to spend time with them.

Surviving are her children: Mark (Emily) of Punxsutawney, PA, Brian (Kimberly) of Dayton, PA, Todd (Debra) of Burgoon, OH, Daniel (Diane) of Punxsutawney, PA, several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-granddaughter. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Ray; and siblings, Alma Anderson, Melvin Gahagan, Marian Martin and Dorothy Anderson.

A Celebration of Life service and burial will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Bristolville Church of the Brethren, 6410 Thompson Clark Rd, Bristolville, OH 44402, or a random act of kindness may be done in her honor.
