Hazel Pauline (Swihart) Parman, 95, passed away on February 8, 2022 at home with her family. She was born on June 19, 1926 in Prentiss, Ohio to Peter and Fern (Wingate) Swihart.

She graduated from Marion Township High School in 1944 and enrolled in the United States Cadet Nursing program through Flower Hospital in Toledo, OH. She completed her Registered Nursing program in 1947. She was employed at Fremont Memorial Hospital from 1948 to 1985 working primarily in the labor and delivery units. She was known for her caring and kindness.

In 1947, she met Robert "Bob" Parman at a Valentine's Day dance. They were married on May 29, 1948 and shared 73 years of marriage prior to Bob's death in November, 2021. Together they enjoyed raising four children, traveling, working and volunteering. Hazel was a long-time volunteer for the American Red Cross, and also volunteered at St. John's Lutheran Church and The Rutherford B. Hayes Center.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Hazel was preceded in death by her siblings, Glenn Swihart, Charlene Michaelis, Lloyd Swihart, and Marian Buchholz. She was also preceded by a son, Ronald Parman and a grandson, Case Parman.

She is survived by her children, Donald (Barbara) of Philadelphia, PA; John (Christine) Parman of Whitehall, MI; Cheryl (Richard) Newsome of Belleville, IL; and Thomas (Maureen) Parman of Fremont, OH. Ten grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren will also miss her tender presence in their lives.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 12, 2022, from 9:30-11:00 AM at St. John's Lutheran Church in Fremont. Funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM. A private family burial will follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. John's Lutheran Church restoration fund or a charity of the donor's choice.
