Gretchen Stanley

Gretchen L. Stanley, 97, of Fremont passed away Thursday, August 8, 2024 at her residence. She was born June 18, 1927 in Sciotoville, OH the daughter of Leonard and Carrie (Floyd) Montgomery. On July 18, 1948 she married Ernest R. Stanley. He preceded her in death on May 3, 2015.

Gretchen worked as a legal secretary for attorneys Cooper & Hall. Together with her husband Ernest, they wintered in Naples, FL and ultimately made it their home for a number of years. She was an avid reader and Bridge player with groups in both Fremont and Florida and enjoyed consistently beating her husband in a good game of Bocce Ball.

Surviving are her children: Ernest R. (Mary Anne) Stanley Jr., of North Port, FL; Michael D.Stanley of Oxford, OH; Lonie D. (Lynne) Stanley and Nancy L. (Byron McMorris) Johnson all of Fremont, OH; grandchildren: Andrew, Dana, Kyle and T.J.; great-grandchildren Jamison and Lilly; brother and sister-in-law Phillip and Patty Stanley of California. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and siblings Willy, Lucille and Alene.The family will receive friends from 5-7P.M. on Wednesday, August 14, 2024 at Herman-Karlovetz Funeral Home, 900 North Street, Fremont, OH 43420.
