Gary James Schluchter

Gary James Schluchter, 58 of Burgoon passed away on January 3, 2024 at ProMedica Memorial Hospital in Fremont. Born on November 8, 1965, Gary was one of four children of the late George C. and Natalie Schluchter. 

Growing up, Gary was very athletic and enjoyed playing baseball and riding BMX bikes. During one little league season, he pitched 21 no-hitter games. Later on, he found joy in riding his Harley, fishing, woodworking, and fixing up his home. 

Though he stayed busy with these loves, his true passion was bowling. Since he was 3 years old, Gary had a love of the game. He became a professional bowler and member of the PBA. Throughout his career, he had bowled numerous 300 games and 800 series, and was even on a televised PBA Tournament in 1993. He was also a Hall of Fame Member of the Senior Singles Open. 

Gary was employed by Sandusky Packaging Corporation for the last 15 years.

On July 30, 2016, Gary married Summer Weller, the love of his life of 18 years in Hocking Hills, OH. 

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Summer; sons, Andrew Schluchter and Joshua Costilla and their children; siblings, Rick (Angie) Schluchter, Terry (Donna) Schluchter, and Charlene (Ryan) Karg; several nieces and nephews; in-laws, John and Pamela Weller; and brother-in-law, Shannon (Michelle) Weller and his children. 

Visitation for Gary will be held on Saturday, January 13 from 10:00am-12:00pm at the Herman-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Crematory, Fremont with funeral services beginning at 12:00pm. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memory Gardens in Clyde. 

Donations in Gary's name may be made to a cause of the donor's choice.
