Gary P. Godfred, 86, of Fremont, passed away Sunday, March 5, 2023 at Elmwood Assisted Living. He was born March 11, 1936 in Fremont, the son of Paul and Ann (Mosser) Godfred. 

After high school Gary attended business school and went on to work in accounting for Mosser Construction.  He was a member of the Ohio National Guard. On September 3, 1960 he married Joan M. Busold.

Gary was a member of St. Joseph Church, St. Joe Booster Club, Eagles and the former Moose. He enjoyed teaching his grandchildren to fish, making wine and volunteering at the soup kitchen. He was an avid sports fan especially the Ohio State Buckeyes and Yankees.

Surviving are his wife Joan of Fremont, children: Brent (Joan) Godfred of Florida and Annette Lindenberger of Indiana; grandchildren William, Cassandra, Victoria, Michael and Nicholas and sister Gail Collier of Wisconsin. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Amy Lynn and son-in-law Thomas Lindenberger.

Visitation will take place on Thursday, March 9, 2023 from 2-4 & 5-7P.M. at Herman-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Crematory, 900 North Street, Fremont, OH. A Funeral Mass will begin at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, March 10, 2023 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 709 Croghan Street, Fremont, OH. Fr. Matthew Frisbee will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph's Church or SJCC Booster Club.
