Evelyn Joyce White

Evelyn White, 90, of Fremont, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2022, at Valley View Health Campus. She was born in Sandusky, Ohio, on January 9, 1932, to Lester and Helen (Karley) Hirt. As a young girl Evelyn attended Riley one room school house, she was a 1950 graduate of Ross High and went on to attend Captial University. At Capital she majored in Social Work, minored in sports and was a member of Kappa Sigma Theta Sorority. Evelyn worked in the office at Herbrand Corporation until motherhood. On January 16, 1954, she married David LeRoy White, and they enjoyed 57 years of marriage until his passing on February 28, 2011.
Evelyn was a member of Grace Lutheran Church where she participated in the bible study groups, Sunday School and Bible School. She was also a polling volunteer for local voting, volunteered for Moblie Meals and was involved with the PTA at Fremont schools. As a fan of antique automobiles, Evelyn could also be found at antique auto clubs and traveling all over for antique auto races. She had a a lively personality and a true zest for life. Her family was her great love and pleasure.

Left to cherish her memory are daughter, Marsha (Jim) Thiessen of Fremont and her son, Jerry White of Fremont ; grandchildren, Derek (Lori)Thiessen, Sara (Mark) Thomson, Matt (Ja'neisha Galloway)Thiessen, Cody (Shanna) White, Catie White, and Shelby Connors; great grandchildren, Evan, Dylan Erdman, Adelynn Thomson, Gabriel, Owen, Gavin and Colan.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her children, David William White and Judith Ann Connors and great-grandson Nolan White.

Visitation will take place on Friday, August 12, 2022 from 9:30 a.m.-11:00 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, 705 W. State Street, Fremont, Ohio, 43420, with funeral services beginning at 11:00 a.m. Maureen Pump will be officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
