Evelyn J. Merryfield

Evelyn J. Merryfield, 91, of Fremont and formerly of Gibsonburg, passed away on November 8, 2021 at Bethesda Care Center in Fremont, Ohio. She was born in Gibsonburg on September 8, 1930 to Alexander and Corrine (Bowser) Ottney. Evelyn was a 1949 graduate of Gibsonburg High School. On July 9, 1949, she married Kenneth Merryfield in Republic, Ohio, and they were married 43 years until his passing on June 22, 1993. As a homemaker Evelyn was devoted to her family and raised her three children; Laurie, Lauren and Melanie. In addition, she was a member of the Sandusky Riverbells Red Hat Society, Green Springs Finger Pickers Quilt Guild, the Senior Center and Trinity Lutheran Church.

Left to cherish her memory are her children; Laurie Merryfield of Fremont, Lauren (Susan) Merryfield of Tampa, FL, Melanie (Daniel) Miller of Lindsey, grandchildren: Stephanie, Luke, Jay, Star, Calin, Jake, great-grandchildren: Haley, Logan, Jeanette, Camden, Xander, step-great-grandson, Jaxon, honorary family members: Jamie, John Dylan, Jake, Jax, Erica, Nicole, Sierra, and special friends, Kathy. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Kenneth Merryfield.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 17, 2021 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Herman-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Crematory, 900 North Street, Fremont, Ohio, 43420. Funeral Services will be on Thursday, November 18, 2021 at 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Fremont, Ohio.
