Estela Salazar

April 24, 1925 — May 14, 2021

Estela Salazar, 96, passed away on May 14, 2021, at her Gibsonburg home surrounded with the love of her family. She was born on April 24, 1925 in Laredo, TX to Marciano and Nicolasa (Teiarina) Orozco. 

On June 7th Estela married Donaciano Salazar in Laredo, TX. Together they raised seven children and she took pride in caring for her family’s needs. After her children had grown, Estela worked in the Cafeteria at BGSU.

She was a member of the Guadalupe Society, the Friendship Club and the Sandusky County Sportsmen’s Club. She will be remembered for her nurturing heart and her ability to make playing Bingo a sport. 

Surviving are children: Mary Salazar of Gibsonburg, Lupe (Manuel) Trevino of Gibsonburg, Juan (Norma) Salazar of Toledo,  Concha (Richard) Salazar of Helena, and Manuel (Gloria) Salazar of Gibsonburg; 16 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; 43 great-great-grandchildren; and siblings: Maria (Jesus) Lerma, and Lupe Orozco.

Estela is preceded in death by her husband and children: Donaciano (Olga) Salazar JR and Josie Maldanado; sister, Consuelo Rodriguez; brothers: Jose Orozco and Qúin Orozco; and grandchildren: Melinda Salazar, Joseph Francisco Alvarado, Rodolfo Lizcano and Donaciano Salazar III.

Visitation will be held at the Herman-Veh Funeral Home & Crematory, Gibsonburg on Thursday, May 20, 2021 from 2-4 & 6-8PM. Masks are required for all services indoors and social distancing measures will be in place. A Mass of Christian Burial for Estela Salazar will be held on Friday, May 21, 2021 at St. Michaels Catholic Church beginning at 10:30AM. Burial will follow at St. Michael & St. Lawrence Cemetery with Fr. Scott Woods officiating. Memorial donations can be made in Estela's name to St. Michaels Catholic Church Youth Program.
