Emma Wasserman

July 21, 1926 — February 28, 2022

Emma Rose Wasserman, 95, of Burgoon, Ohio passed away peacefully at Valley View Health Campus in Fremont, Ohio on February 28, 2022, with family at her side. Emma was born on July 21, 1926, in Tiffin, Ohio to George and Ludwina (Hoepf) Tiell. Emma married Zeno Wasserman on February 15, 1947, at St Joseph Church in Tiffin, Ohio. Zeno predeceased Emma on April 17, 2014.

Emma is survived by her sons: John (Carol) Wasserman of Fremont, OH; Leo Wasserman of Dayton, OH; Paul (Joanie) Wasserman of Burgoon, OH; and Roger (Barb) Wasserman of Burgoon, OH; her daughters: Jan (Larry) Bloemer of Louisville, KY; Teresa (Rich) Wasserman of Fremont, OH; and Karen (Gregg) Cline of Findlay, OH; her grandchildren: Kevin (Nicole) Wasserman and Brenda (Eric) Peiffer of Fremont, OH; Melanie (Josh Lindley) Bloemer, Tim (Shelby Schulz) Bloemer, and Rebecca (Zach) Rickman of Louisville, KY; Jason (Kacie) Wasserman of Jupiter, FL; Andrea (Andy) Nagy of Fremont, OH; Sarah (Kris) Balde of Milan, OH; Diane (Mike) Hastings of Salem, MA; Emily (Anna Hetzel) Cline of Columbus, OH; Angie (DJ) Swearingen of Huron, OH; and Camille Wasserman of Charleston, SC; great grandchildren: Leah and Rachel Wasserman; Ethan and Chloe Whittekind; Presley and Evan Lindley; Zoey and Zeno Wasserman; Abby, Alyssa and Ava Nagy; Kendall and Kourtney Balde; Anora Hastings; Mary Clare, Teresa and Catherine Swearingen; and Silas Rickman due in April.

Emma was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Paul Tiell, and sisters Margaret Wasserman, Florence Cunningham, and Dolores Dewald.

Emma was a woman of service to her family, church, and community. She was an active member of St Mary Catholic Church, Millersville, OH and the Rosary Altar Society. Her strong dedication to the Lord was her guiding center which resulted in her active formation of the Catholic faith in her seven children as well as her extended family. Her prayer life reached beyond her family and community, praying for others around the world. She was dedicated to her family, encouraging them in their studies, making their clothes, growing and preserving their food, and playing an active role in decisions to manage the family farm. Emma was also noted for her outstanding cookies, pies, noodles, and beautiful gladiolas. She was a lifelong learner with much wisdom to share.

A Mass of Christian Burial for immediate family was held on March 2, 2022, at St Mary Catholic Church, Millersville, OH with Fr. Scott Woods and Fr. Tim Kummerer presiding. Burial was at St Mary Cemetery, Millersville, OH. A Memorial Mass will be held at St Mary Catholic Church, Millersville, OH on March 19, 2022, at 11 am with a rosary prayed prior to mass and a luncheon in the church hall following mass. Herman-Veh Funeral Home & Crematory, Gibsonburg, OH assisted the family with arrangements.
