Emily E. Wasserman

Emily E. Wasserman, 101, of Helena, passed away on April 26, 2022, at Valley View Health Campus in Fremont. She was born in Lakeview, Ohio, to Ollen and Mary (Cummins) Nebergall. Emily was a 1938 graduate of Townsend High School. She worked for Ohio Bell Telephone and later the Helena Post Office until her retirement.  On October 12, 1942, she married Jerome “Jerry” Wasserman in Gibsonburg and he preceded her in death on September 16, 2008. Emily attended Shiloh United Methodist Church in Helena where she was also a member of the ladies aide. She was a 56-year member of Rebekah Lodge IOOF and a charter member of the Helena Fire Department Auxiliary.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Carol Ziebold of Helena, Kathleen (Michael) Atkinson-Fix of Fredericksburg, VA and Thomas (Carole) Wasserman of Helena; 9 grandsons; 12 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild with one on the way. In addition to her parents and her husband, she is preceded in death by her brothers, Lauren and Everett, and son-in-law, Michael Ziebold.

Visitation will be held Monday, May 2, 2022, from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM at the Herman-Veh Funeral Home & Crematory, 319 W. Madison Street, Gibsonburg, Ohio, 43431. Funeral services will begin at 12:00 PM at the funeral home. Pastor Michael Holcomb will officiate. Burial will follow at Metzgar Cemetery, Helena.
