Edward Blody

November 20, 1948 — March 5, 2024

Ed Blody, 75, of Fremont passed away with the love and support from his family on Tuesday, March 5, 2024. He was born on November 20, 1948 in Tiffin to the late Edward L. Blody and Hilda (Schultz) Ferguson.

Upon graduating from Fremont Ross High School in 1968, Ed went to Tiffin University and later graduated from ITT Technical School in Dayton, OH with associates degree in drafting and design in 1970.

On June 16, 1970, he married the love of his life Mary Jo Ross. For many years they were proud to be loving Foster Parents.

Ed served in the U.S. Army in 1971-1974. Upon completion of basic training at Fort Knox KY, he was stationed at Fort Riley KS (Home of the Big Red One). He received additional training in the Black Forest in Baden-Württemberg, Germany and during his service he worked as a Corporal Land Surveyor.

After the service, Ed worked at Kelsey Hayes in Kingsway and later at Sheets Supply.

In his free time Ed bowled on several leagues through the years and was induced to the Fremont Bowlers Assoc. Hall of Frame inducted 2022. He also liked to care for and take rides in his 2006 GTO.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Michael (Melissa) Blody of Norwalk and Matthew (Tabatha) Blody of Fremont; grandchildren, Kayla Blody, Taylor Wood, Mattyson Blody, Trenton Blody, Evan Johnston, Brittney Blody, and Jordan Blody; great-grandchild, Cayden Flores; sister, Barbara Kudro of Fremont and long time family friend Carol Slemmer of Fremont.

He is preceded in death by his family members wife Mary Jo Blody who passed on Nov. 20, 2017 and sister Linda Yost.

A Graveside Service will be held on Monday, March 11th 10AM at Oakwood Cemetery. The Herman-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Crematory is honored to be assisting Ed's family at this time.

Memorials in honor of Ed may be made to the American Red Cross or Heartland Hospice.
