Donna Jean Cooley, 94, of Fremont, passed away February 12, 2025, at Bethesda Care Center. She was born February 13, 1930, in Green Springs, Ohio, to Herbert and Bessie Marie (Cullen) Knappenberg. Donna was a graduate of Green Springs High School. For many years she was an office worker for Heinz until her retirement on June 30, 1989 . On August 14, 1948, she married Benjamin “Ben” Cooley, and they celebrated 76 years of marriage before her passing. 

Donna was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Fremont.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Ben Cooley of Fremont; children, Chris (Sharon) Cooley of Columbus, OH, and Connie (Dick) Wasserman of Helena, OH; grandchildren, Lori (Jason) Blevins of Commercial Point, OH, Andy (Brittany) Wasserman of Cedar Park, TX, Matt (Leah) Wasserman of Harbor Springs, MI; great-grandchildren, Allyssa and Katelyn Blevins, Kai and Owen Wasserman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Ruth Aldrich, Doris Hasselbach, Gladene Bell and Violet Little.

Visitation will be held Thursday, February 20, 2025, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Herman-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Crematory, 900 North Street, Fremont, Ohio, 43420. Funeral services will begin at 10:00 AM on Friday, February 21, 2025, at Grace Lutheran Church, 705 W. State Street, Fremont, Ohio, 43420. Pastor Clayton Bailey and Synod Authorized Minister Maureen Pump will officiate. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memory Gardens in Clyde. For those unable to attend, live-streaming of her services will be available by following the link provided on Donna’s obituary page.
