Donald F. Haubert, 87, of Helena, passed away with his loving family by his side at Bethesda Care Center on February 1, 2022. He was born on February 23, 1934, to Ambrose and Dolores (Hoffman) Haubert. Don graduated from Jackson Burgoon High School in 1953. On May 15, 1954 he married the love of his life Regina (Jean) Schade of Helena. They were married at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Millersville.
He was initially employed at the JE Baker Company in Millersville and moved on to the Chrysler Corporation, from which he retired in 1993. Don enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling with his wife, gardening and attending races at Fremont Speedway. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed trapping, hunting, fishing, mushroom hunting and maintaining a purple martin colony. His children and grandchildren inherited his passion for the outdoors and fast cars. He was a life-time member of St. Mary's of Millersville parish and the Ohio State Trapper's Association.
Don is survived by his beloved wife of sixty-seven years, Regina "Jean" Haubert, Helena, OH; children Susan (Luther) Gibbs and Pamela (Dave) Zimmerman, Fremont, OH; Michael (Colleen) Haubert, Seneca, SC; daughter-in-law Deborah Haubert, Oak Harbor, OH; grandchildren Lieutenant Colonel Jennifer (Colonel Leland) Cowie, USAF, Round Rock, TX; Abigail (Matt) Monnot, Chagrin Falls, OH; Brian (fiance' MaLinda Laurer) Gibbs, Fremont, OH; Tony (Rebekah) Zimmerman, Elmore, OH; Staci (Jay) Ernsberger, Fremont, OH; Caleb, Hannah and Gabriella Haubert, Seneca SC; and great-grandchildren Leland Douglas and Aden Cowie, Maddox and Levi Monnot, Easton Weickert, Oliver Zimmerman, Konnor, Peyton and Brody Ernsberger; and sister JoAnne (Walter) Ochs. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Donna Lou, William, James and Janet; and his precious children Jodi and Douglas Haubert.
The family would like to offer their deepest gratitude for the compassion, love and support from Don's at-home caretakers, Martha Ortiz and Heather Ranes. Additionally, the family offers a special thanks and appreciation to the staff of Bethesda Care Center and ProMedica Heartland Hospice.
A Funeral Mass will be at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Millersville on February, 14, 2022 at 10:30 in the morning. The family kindly requests that everyone wear a mask and practice social distancing. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Helena Fire Department, Back to the Wild Inc., 4504 Bardshar Road, Castalia, OH 44824, or St. Mary's Catholic Church for masses.
