Dennis E. Wammes

Dennis E. Wammes, 69, of Fremont, passed away Monday, September 16, 2024 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. He was born November 17, 1954 in Fremont, the son of Clarence and Rita (Keller) Wammes.

Dennis was a 1974 graduate of St. Joseph Catholic High School and went on to have a fulfilling career as a carpenter before retiring in 1996. 

A jack of all trades, Dennis loved woodworking and carpentry. He constructed many houses, bridges, and roads throughout his career, and also enjoyed coin collecting. He was an avid Cleveland Browns fan and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Surviving are his daughter Krystal (Victoria Lopez) Wammes of Fremont, granddaughter, Kayleigh Keathley of Fremont; great-grandson, Arlo Jo McKinley of Fremont; sister, Carol Shoemaker and brother Matthew (Lisa) Wammes of Catawba, sister-in-law Terry Wammes of Fremont; uncle Raymond Wammes of Fremont; ex-spouse and close friend, Melody Wammes; many nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Rita; infant sister Martha; and brother James Wammes.

A memorial mass will be prayed in Dennis's name on Friday, September 20, beginning at 10:00AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Fremont. 

Donations in Dennis's name may be made to the Virginia Clifford Hospice Center of Toledo, or to the Sandusky County Dog Warden towards the Sick Animal Fund.
